Professor Oh Joon


Oh Joon is a Professor of United Nations studies at Kyung Hee University in Seoul and a former ambassador of the Republic of Korea. He is also a visiting professor at the Korea Development Institute (KDI) School of Public Policy and Management in Sejong, Korea. He was Ambassador and Permanent Representative of Korea to the United Nations in New York from 2013 to 2016. During this time, he served as the 71st President of the Economic and Social Council (ECOSOC) and as President of the Conference of States Parties to the Convention on the Rights of Persons with Disabilities (CRPD) for its 8th and 9th sessions in 2015 and 2016. Ms. Maria Ahn

International Outreach/Translation & Interpretation

Ms. Maria Ahn, International Outreach Maria Ahn is MA student at Kyung Hee University Graduate Institute of Peace Studies. She has a BA's degree in Political Science, and English-Korean Translation and Interpretation from Kyung Hee University in Seoul, Korea. During and after her undergraduate studies, she worked as an intern at Korea International Cooperation Agency (KOICA) in Bolivia, UN Food and Agriculture Organization (FAO) in Bolivia, Korea Trade and Investment Trade Agency (KOTRA) in Seoul, and worked as an interpreter/translator for a joint-venture hydro plant project in Pakistan. Through her studies and work experiences, she grew interested in peace and development. She is currently working on her thesis about a peace process led by international NGOs in Aceh, Indonesia which brought an end to a 30-year-old violent conflict. Her focus is on the role of non-governmental actors as mediators in the peace process. Contact Maria here.

Dr. Seung-Eun (Joy) Lee

Design Lab

Dr. Seung-Eun Lee is a professor of Fashion Merchandising and Design at Central Michigan University. Dr. Lee received her Ph.D. from Iowa State University. Her primary research areas are fashion marketing and merchandising, retail technology, and neuromarketing. She has published in journals such as Clothing and Textiles Research Journal, Computers in Human Behavior, Journal of Fashion Marketing and Management, and Journal of Retailing and Consumer Services. Dr. Su-Kyoung An

Design Lab

Dr. Sy-Kyoung An is a professor of Fashion Merchandising and Design at Central Michigan University. Dr. An received her Ph.D. from Oklahoma State University. Dr. An has expertise in both creative scholarship and functional research. Her research interests include functional and smart clothing for military personnel and police officers, sustainability, renewable fibers, and the application of computer-aided design software for product design, pattern making, and 3D prototyping. Recent publications by her include, "Thermal Manikin Evaluation of Gender Sweat Differences While Wearing a Ballistic Vest," in Clothing and Textiles Research Journal and "Thermal Comfort Difference on Gender under Military Garment System using Thermal Manikin," in AATCC Journal of Research. She is also an accomplished, creative scholar and her creative design works have been exhibited in both national and international venues. Mr. Jun Bum Sun

International Outreach/Translation & Interpretation

Jun Bum Sun is a musician based in Seoul, Korea. He is the singer/songwriter of the award-winning rock band, The Yangbans. He is also a student of history. He received his BA from Dartmouth College, and his MSt from Balliol College, Oxford. His dissertation was on Thomas Paine and the American Revolution. He served in the 210th Field Artillery Brigade, US Army, for two years and was honorably discharged as a Sergeant. He currently serves as an advisor to Animal Liberation Wave, a nascent animal rights organization in Korea Contact Bum Sun here.
